What a great idea. Your record book looks great. After having 3 premmies I always did up my own data logs and records in a writing book (nothing fancy) to feel more on top of the situation due to the demanding bubs and lack of sleep, however yours looks like it can be referred too forever and recorded as keepsake to show them one day.. I still recorded feeds etc weeks after they came home. Well done and all the best. Lisa

Natasha,

Thank you for sharing your journey. I am a mom to a NICU graduate (28weeker) and a current NICU patient (26weeker). So far we have had a pretty uneventful journey, however we know that can change quickly. You have given me hope and encouragement.

I can't wait to get your book.

Sincerely, Tracie Dalton

What a great site and book. Our wee girl was born at 38 weeks (which technically isn't prem) but was in the NICU for 5 long days after a traumatic labour and birth. I wish I could remember all the details of those few days to be able to tell her when she asks about the story behind all the machines in her photos. It certainly helps to be open and honest with the other parents in NICU who are all as scared as you are about their tiny bundles too.

Natasha

Well done on your baby book- it must be so rewarding to see it go from idea-design-production-launch...it will be invaluable for parents on premmies.

I had twins at 33 wks, so nothing like your micro premmie, but nevertheless a heartbreaking journey and introduction to parenthood (we thought going through IVF was hard!). I had to have a hysterectomy soon after- you never know what lies ahead but I wish i had jotted down some info about neonates as your memories do fade

I am a RN, who one day wants to become a neonatal nurse and that comes from my experience of having prem twins- to have that real empathy of not being able to hold your baby straight away, to not panic when you see your baby 'desat', but how it feels to see your baby undergo 'resus' right in front of you...but how the other parents give you strength to keep going, even when their baby makes it home before yours!

My twins are almost eight now but your story took me right back to the experiences, sights, sounds (how many machines go beep!) and even the smells!

Hope your project continues to go well

regards, Vanessa

Hi Natasha, :-)

My name is Lyndall. I work in Ward 6B (NICU) at PMH. I also have three darling children of my own.

I actually saw your "post" from the group, NICU Nurses, which I'm a member of,(Facebook) and just wanted to congratulate you, for creating this fantastic website, as well as the publication of your book. Well done! 6(^)6

I think it will help other parent's going through the emotional trauma of having a premature birth, and help them to realise that although it can and usually is, a long battle ahead, other's have experienced similar situations and by reading their inspirational stories, it can offer some form of comfort, with their own pre-term birth situations.

Congratulations, and may your beautiful son Hudson, live a long, happy and healthy life!

Kind regards,

Lyndall. :-)

Hi Natasha,

What a great site. Has been passed to me by a mutual friend of ours.

My nephew Marcus has been at KEMH since August, born at 24 weeks. He is still there, and may be moved to PMH mid November. His Mum (a first timer) has been just amazing.

What a wonderful unique gift I have found to give her in your BubBE book.

Congratulations on the site, and I will be passing the link onto Marcus' Mum to read the inspirational stories.

Congratulations, i think the book is a wonderful idea. Our son was born at 26 weeks in August 06, it would have been great to take this book to the hospital to fill in his statistics for the 13weeks that he was in for!

Can't wait to see the final product, hope it goes well for you. Hope that your son is getting stronger by the day.

Hi Natasha

I just found the link to your site from Lil Aussie Prems and wanted to add my congratulations.

It's wonderful to see your son doing so well after such a rough start. Your BubBE book sounds excellent, I hope you don't mind if I put a link to your site from mine.

Best wishes from another KEMH survivor!!

Natasha,

What an amazing book you have created! I will certainly be recommending this book to all the parents on my website as quite a few of them have babies in NICU that will be there long term. You have done a fantastic job on your website too, you should be very proud of yourself!

A fantastic achievement, Tasha. What a good idea to share your experiences after all you've been through. We're sure there are many mums and dads out there who will find your book giving them such hope and inspiration. Hudson is a wonderful little boy whom we hope to meet one day. We feel another trip to Perth coming on and hope this will be possible some time. Meanwhile, keep up the good work. Well done!

Lots of love to you all,

Sue and Steve xxx
