 24/06/2006Hudson is born at 23 weeks 4 days gestation a week after his in-utero involvement in a car accident results in an abrupted placenta. He weighs just 580 grams.
02/07/2006
Opens his eyes for the first time. Has his first cuddle with Mum.
03/07/2006
Wears clothes for the first time. |

Is taken off the ventilator and placed on CPAP.
19/07/2006
Stomach becomes distended and he is placed back on the ventilator.
26/07/2006
Is placed back on CPAP. |

05/08/2006
Has his first cuddle with Dad.
16/08/2006
Reaches 1kg in weight.
06/09/2006
Breastfeeds for the first time. |

|
07/09/2006
Is moved into an open cot.
10/09/2006
Comes off CPAP and on to PBF.
13/09/2006
Is transferred from Special Care Nursery (SCN) 3 to SCN 3b. |

16/09/2006
Is transferred from SCN 3b to the High Dependency Unit (HDU). Has his first cuddle with an extended family member (Aunty Tasha).
19/09/2006
Is bathed by Mum for the first time.
23/09/2006
Hudson becomes gravely ill. His stomach again becomes distended and he is rushed to Princess Margaret Hospital for Children (PMH). An inguinal hernia is operated on. |

Has 4cm of his bowel removed due to Necrotising Enterocolitis (NEC) caused by Cytomegalovirus (CMV).
06/10/2006
Returns to the HDU at King Edward Memorial Hospital for Women.

Reaches his Estimated Due Date so is now finally at term!
26/10/2006
Goes back to PMH for laser eye surgery.

Hudson comes off oxygen.
22/11/2006
Goes back on PBF.

Leaves Special Care Nursery for a trip out to the hospital cafe with mum!
01/12/2006 Travels to Respiratory Clinic at PMH for a pre-checkout visit (and so Mum can learn how to use the oxygen regulator!)
02/12/2006
Spends night in room with Mum and Dad for Mother (and Father) Crafting. |

After 5 1/2 months Hudsons NICU journey finally ends and he heads home with Mum and Dad!!!! |
